Hydroelectric Dam Removal
Anchor QEA provided an existing conditions assessment and plan for removal of a former hydroelectric dam located on a river. The dam was a hindrance to aquatic passage, a threat to the endangered Appalachian Elktoe Mussel, and an obstacle to recreational activities.s
Anchor QEA prepared hydraulic and hydrologic models, obtained permits, and observed construction. The dam was successfully removed, and 44 miles of the river were re-opened to aquatic migration of fish and other aquatic species.
